If you attend BYU-Idaho, there’s a good chance you’re looking for an eternal companion, or have already found one. Either way, dating is a chance for you to find a connection with that person, who has graced you with their presence and put the plans for the night in your hands. But what is there to do around Rexburg in the winter? We have some inexpensive suggestions that are tailored to our town’s frigid winters when you want to woo that special someone.
Playing in the Snow– This may seem like an obvious idea, but it’s one that can be super fun! Bundle up in your cutest winter coats, scarves, and hats. Build a snowman together. Construct the snow fort to end all snow forts. Make some snow angels! Get creative, but of course, stay safe. To top it all off, cook up some hot chocolate and sip it while you warm back up inside.
“Gourmet” Hot Chocolate Making – Speaking of hot cocoa, you can make a date out of just that! There’s nothing like a hot cup of chocolatey goodness to warm up your insides on a freezing winter day. Bring different kinds of mix-ins and toppings, find your favorite homemade hot chocolate recipe (or steal one from online—we won’t tell), and make some crazy hot chocolate. Yum! Finish the night off with a movie for a chance at some snuggling (for extra warmth!).
Make Cookies – Everyone knows that winter is the time of year for making sugar cookies. There’s something about those amazing treats covered in icing that makes everything better. Pick up the ingredients for some scrumptious cookies (or borrow them from a roommate…with permission, of course) and bake some cookies together! Throw in some delicious sprinkles to add some flair.
Ice Skating – This fun activity is bound to get some laughs—especially if one (or both) of you isn’t a seasoned skater. Ice-skating is a great opportunity to work together to have fun. Whether you’re well-practiced in this beautiful art or unable to even stand on your skates, this can make for an awesome date with lots of spills and giggles! Just remember, again, to stay safe, and to make sure both of you are having fun!
A Simple Walk Around Town – This is a oft-done practice, but what could be better to spend some time together than to just walk around outside and enjoy some of God’s more beautiful creations (aside from the one standing next to you, obviously). The winter is usually full of snow and picturesque views for you both to enjoy. Make sure to bundle up! A walk around gorgeous Rexburg gives you time to learn about each other and learn more about this wonderful town.
Movie Night– What could be more cozy-sounding than a night in with a few good movies and a sweet spirit by your side? A movie night is a great way to take the pressure off of you both and relax to enjoy some awesome cinema. Include some delicious snacks and warm blankets into the mix and you have yourself a comfy winter night in.
