Dates
As the leaves fall, love rises, and many opportunities are available for students who are trying to participate in the dating scene. The fall semester is an excellent time of year to go on dates, because there are so many activities to choose from.
Straw Maze and Hay Ride – The first of these occurs all throughout the month of October. Every year a large straw maze and hayride are set up just outside of downtown Rexburg, and provide students with the perfect opportunity to go on dates. The maze/hayride are relatively inexpensive with ticket prices ranging from
$7-$12. Both the hayride and maze are best completed in the dark, because the lack of light gives couples the perfect opportunity to hold hands as they try to navigate what seems to be a never-ending labyrinth. On the weekends, the excuse to hold hands grows as both the hayride and maze become haunted with monsters and terrors from many popular horror movies. This is a super popular event, and the lines can be kind of long, but it’s definitely worth the wait.
Collecting Food for Charity – As October draws to a close, the season of giving thanks envelops the town. The local Boy Scout troops hold food collections all throughout the month of November. Why not help them out a little bit by going on a group date? You visit the various apartment complexes around Rexburg, collecting canned food items? When you and your group are done collecting the food, find a donation bin and drop the food off. If you still have most of the evening left, take your date and the rest of your group to one of the Taco Bus to grab a bite to eat, or watch a movie in one of your apartments. At the end of the night you’ll have helped out the community and enjoyed time with your friends and date.

Hot Cocoa and Christmas Lights – During the week of Thanksgiving, you don’t have school and the lights go up in Temple Square. When you get back to school and find that you want to take that special someone out on a date, but can’t make the drive down to Salt Lake, look no further than small town Rexburg. Take your date on a scenic drive of Rexburg, after you pick up Hot Cocoa at the Cocoa Lodge located next to the Taco Bell on Main Street, and look at the Christmas lights. If you’re lucky the Hot Cocoa won’t be the only steamy part of this evening.
